well a turns out to be the orlando clipper from 1962 is 15 feet exactly. with a 35hp 1958 johnson and rated to 45hp( think it should be 50hp) guy had a 60hp gale on it before.

so i wanna get the best economy as possible with just me and a full load. so i tried 4th hole out on with just be 2 gallon of gas and deep cycle battery in back. with 1-2 pounds of other items. and me 130 pounds in front seat. look at link to see boat. when i turn sharp i noticed that it would ventialte a bit so ill keep it at 3rd hole out instead and to insure good water pickup when turning. planes out good with the third hole just me. 2-3 sec.

now if i have some people on board like more then 2 and max people id say is about 4 people. should i put the motor to 2nd hold out to hold throttle lowest setting and stay planed? what about when by my self ?should i keep to 3rd or 2nd hole out?

best eco for a runabout is just before it starts to come off plane right? would moving motor to 2nd hole out would this make it so i could use less throttle to plane the boat? but 3rd hole is best top speed?

The best economy on any boat is at displacement speed. It may take you forever to get where you are going but that's where the best economy is achieved. Go to the Yamaha web site and look at boat/engine test reports. Fuel economy is plotted very nicely for you.

Yep. I'm guessing the coolguy is referring to what we commonly see as "Best Cruise" .

ok ill look at it

so now about my question on 2nd or 3rd hole out 2nd hole is 90 degress with boat 3rd hole little out. with like 2 full people im thinking 3rd hole is ok then more is 2nd so i can stay on plane easier? and easier planning?

Try it and see. That applies to most performance issues. You simply don't know what works best until you try.

Re: best effecieny

just got back me and friend about 200-240 pounds plus gear and 2 gallon of gas. 3rd hole out. hole good. top speed good. sister in back seat dont know about 115-120 pounds. and dog. dalmation? hole still pretty good. and top speed not bad either. i forgot to try 2nd hole out though

not when there like a little rooster tail when at low speed planing? is this like about to come off plane?

Only you can tell when the boat is getting on plane or coming off plane. Every setup is different. You don't have to look at the back of the boat to tell if its about to come off plane. The seat of your pants tells you that.

the tilt angle of the motor effects the attitude of the hull. the closer to the transon, the lower the motor pushes the bow, moving away from the transom, the higher the motor pushes the bow.

i understand that. i guess ill just have to do more testing.

as for gas mileage i believe the throttle setting is gonna matter most. but pin setting is for the load. like pulling a tube would keep it at 2nd hole out. 3rd hole speed light load. 2nd hole heavy load.

Your motor is a 59.Generally you would trim in with a load just how much would depend on the results.Trimming out usually helps speed when not too heavily loaded.Weight distribution helps as well.It will stay on plane easier trimmed in.
The height of the motor affects speed as well. You won't be able to raise it as much as a modern motor but you may gain a little.Just add 1/4" sticks on the top of the transom.Be sure it has a good grip and pumps water.
If your prop is dinged up or worn You could have it repaired. It may improve
your ventilation(cavitation) issues.A tiny tach would help tell if you are reaching your max speed/rpm and a gps to check speed is a big help.
Your motor will use about 3.5 GPH(gallons per hour) at wot(wide open throttle)Whether it reaches 25 or only 10mph.Obviously the faster it goes
the less you will use to go a given distance.
The best planing speed could be just on plane or may be signifigantly higher.Trial and error is the only way to tell unless you have a flow meter.

no its a 1958 because the model number said so and serial number matches block and transom bracket. has a 1959 hood though.

cant do anything and i just got a estimate on a clutch dog foward gear and lower unit seals. 20 dollars seals defianite need most likely. clutch dog 45 dollars. and foward gear and i need it 150-180
