Started to replace the hole in the floor and couldn't stop myself. Ended up tearing everything out of the boat. Now I think that a center console would be the way to go back. I want the boat to fish with but my boys also like to wakeboard. So here are all the questions for you guys. 1) Can I put truck bed liner on the plyboard and it stick and work as it should on metal. If not what is avalible for wood like bed liner?(really want to stay away from carpet) 2)How do I remove all the carpet glue. 3)what should I coat the transom board with before putting it back in? If I put a ski pylon in shoud the floor be fixed different??

Camera makes pictures to big to upload will work on it. Thanks

Think I have pictures now. Also have the floor out now and someone put spray foam in the bottom is this ok or do I need to remove it?

Alan welcome to iboats and :D The tincan club :D. You want to coat all wood with resin before putting it back in the boat the Deck( floor ) most guys coat the bottom and sides with resin and then a layer of glass ontop once its back in the boat ( helps to hide the seams ) . The deck itself you can coat either with products made for such applications or you can cheap out alot of members here have simply rolled a layer of paint on then spread kiddie sand in the paint and then applied another layer of paint over it . One other option on the deck would be marine vinyl as some mebers here have done.

On a aluminum boat how do you seal the floor to the boat. to keep from having cracks that eat lures and such.

LOL sadly the only seal is to get the edges of the wood as close to the sides as you can get it . You really dont want to seal it to the sides most of us rivet it down or use stainless screws to hold it down to the stringers. The deck pretty much floats inside the boat . On most of the Starcrafts the side pannels cover the edges of the deck anyways.

Ok spray foam is EVIL. Someone sprayed it all in the boat and it pulled my stringers lose. Now I will have to take it out and rivet them all back )(&)*&(*^&*.

Naaa thats OK you wanted to remove them anyway for and easier cleaning of entire hull and then you can gluvit all seams and rivets. Good Looking boat by the way..... I've heard those are the cousin to STARCRAFTS so you are at least in the family.:D

LOL Jim knows all about the evil stringers . he is right though you want to get all that spray in junk out of there and go back with the pink foam you can get at homie desperate in sheets.

Ok guys finally down to just bare boat. Got a couple of questions. Where can I locally get this expoxy rosin to paint the plyboard with? Heard might could be bought at sherwin williams? Also was thinking of going back center console but don't want to buy new controlls. Has anyone made this work with side controlls without it being a mess or joke? Also need ideas for floor layout got any links to pictures already finished boats? Sort of thought about a cast deck on the front. Thanks for any help.

Alan you can get resin at Homie desperate or Lowes in the paint department . The center console thing I couldnt help with although I like the side consoles myself. The casting deck has been done in alot of bowriders though not to hard to do.

As long as the cables reach, there is something you can fabricate to make them work.

If you make it into a center console, the console will have to be brought aft because the cables have to go underneath the deck vs on the side above the deck. The center console will be a little bit aft of where the stock side console was at. Of course, that is if you use the cables you already have.

my stringer to the ribs rivets were 5/32 ....the deck to the ribs were 3/16 bought the 5 /32 at lowes . I always wondered if most guys used the old holes in the ribs ....... and put rivets in...or used the same holes and put screws in...and how they located the holes under the ply

I need to glue 2 pieces of 3/4 plyboard together. What brand of glue works well to put the transom boards together. I know it must be waterproof.

Gorilla glue or PL adhesive...... glue and clamp (I have used screws for clamping and remove them when dried) until dried. Use some poly resin or epaxy to seal the edges and a layer of CSM over the plywood. Try a good hardmare store for 3/16 rivets .... you can try Fastenal but be prepared to buy a huge box.

If you are using epoxy for other work, use it to glue the ply together too... Very strong and certainly waterproof.

The resin at Home Depot and other similar stores is very overpriced- Try getting it online, someplace like US Composites- You'll save a LOT of money that way.

Re: Blue Fin Restoration (Sorry just a starcraft wantabee)

Ok guys I have gave up on finding the expoy local. Niether Home depot or Lowes around here carry it.(unless you use what they have for garage floors??) So I will have to order from us composites. I'm still old school like to look at and touch what I buy, but will order if I have to!! I will have to work around (3) 4x8 sheets of plyboard for the floor and transom. So how much expoy do I need for this and how fast do I want it to cure???

Ok Rick you talked me into it. I'm going to put it back with side controls like it was. Got to thinking about the boys water sking and will lose to much seating to center console. If it gets to where all its used for is fishing I can change it later. Do think I will get rid of the seats in front of the windshield though. May try to come up with a folding seat some how (or removeable) this will give more fishing room in the bow.:D

Any chance you could snap some more pics of the ski locker area. I have the same boat and I'd like to add the same to mine.

I plan on modeling mine after this design in the new Starcraft SuperFisherman http://images.psndealer.com/dealersite/images/newvehicles/nv137245_0.jpg check out the removable section that a fishing chair mounts on. Best of both worlds.
