Looks like you've done a superb job of getting the floor boards cut and fit. I hope to be joining you shortly at this phase of your project. I'll be doing some more deconstruction tonight.

Rick, believe it or not that is a repaint, originally she was hunter green w/ dark green guts. Also the bow is pitted and rough looking and you can see the hunter green through the pitting so... Steven

Hey Captmills Here are a couple links for you if your gona repaint and stuff, All so for replacing that old vinyl on the side boards. You can keep the same colors or at least close to it or what ever you like. :D For the vinyl look on left side and check the different ones for Marine flooring and what not. http://www.yourautotrim.com/
For the paint this might be something to look at. http://www.supermarinepaint.com/topside-revolution-SM-1000.asp

OK, Didn't know since Bob downsized (blew away)my pics and I will need to start over again with the pics, oh well, great learning exp. Who said an old dog can't learn new tricks (with the help of a 13 year old.) LOL :D

Just FYI I do not "blow away" photos ....... I just remove the IMG coding so it does not appear but... the URL will remain and appear for members to look at in their browser. Yes, 13 year olds have now found their usefulness on the internet ;)

Sorry Bob, I felt blown away  Thanks for the info Jim. Thought I would add a couple of pics of what I'm dealing with on the bow as well as the transom. Those two are the worst, The rest of the boat looks great and I may just sand and prime that but strip the bow and transom. I'm thinking hunter green for the top of the boat and white for the sides and bottom (even though it looks like the whole thing was hunter green) with green carpet and white guts. Thought that would look sharp! swmbo likes that combo as well :)

We will get you counselling ;) Hey the boat is looking great. I know your hole repair will hold up fine.... Just hit those with gluvit. I have a even bigger repair on the back of my SS .... I had about 25 holes to fill.

Green over white..... look at Andy in NY 's boat. His is painted green over white.

Thanks for understanding Bob, May need rehab. Andy's boat is close to what I'm thinking just not green down the side only on top. On the transom I used rivets with JB weld to seal and then I will fill the holes on the outside with JB as well. That is if I get up from this computer and get to work :D

The insanity continues... A few more pics from the Nassau fun and games department. The paint was pitted on the bow so Steve said "need to strip this paint off and start fresh. :eek:This boat has two coats of very well applied paint, one from the factory (hunter green) and one from a paint shop,(avacado) with primer between. I have been stripping the bow for two days now (last Sat. and today Friday) WOW! here ya go...A glimmer of aluminum, After all this work would'nt it be cool to leave it shiney? I know, I would have to close my eyes to drive her, It would still be cool :D

Re: 1965 Starcraft Nassau restore

Right now my plan is to ZC the bare metal on top and prime over top, Then sand the sides (they are in great shape) but I have not decided on the finish coat. I have used easypoxy in the past with great results but several guys in here have used rustoleum with good results as well. Because of $$$ it will be cheapest but best :D I will keep y'all posted, Steven

I'm going with Easypoxy on mine. Originally it was just because they have the colors I want and Rustoleum doesn't but in further reading about it...it sounds like great paint.

Re: 1965 Starcraft Nassau restore

sadly I have a quart of easypoxie left over from my old Renken but dark blue is not in this boats future. I only used enough on that boat to do 1 stripe on the side, the rest of the boat was white. oh well

Steve looks like some good progress there I was glad to see you say you were getting ready to pull the windshield since they are getting harder to find and I could just see a scraper or some stripper  getting onto it .

Re: 1965 Starcraft Nassau restore

The windshield has been removed with the help of 13yo (had to get him off his computer)
Well, after a long day stripping and sanding it's time to sit down with a cup of coffee and post some pics. I've got one broken windshield clamp if anyone has a spare. (will post pic of that later)(looking for some vinyl for bottom too)
100_1368.jpg

not as shiney after sanding
100_1369.jpg

took a few minutes to paint up a small sample (rustoleum hunter green)
100_1371.jpg

got a big thumbs up from SWMBO on top side paint color :D more to come

in the pics of your new deck, i couldnt help but wonder: are you putting in a bilge pump? it doesnt look like there would be enough room to get one in there...

After all the paint threads.....I think the key is that you buff it out. I painted my Nassau with Easypoxy and then buffed it out with two levels of grit - looked perfect.
