I'm in the process of installing a water separator for my 93 Johnson 90 hp two stroke. I'm putting it before the primer bulb near the back. I noticed that there are two sizes of filters though. Do I need the bigger one for my motor size or it doesn't matter? Also I have two primer bulbs in my fuel line. The previous owner had the tank mounted under the floor in the front and there is bulb near there and one at the back going into the motor. Do I need the one near the gas tank or is it over kill? Thanks

Re: Water sparator

it dont matter, the larger was typically for OMC threaded filters. The smaller was called Mecury/yamaha.Most of the filters I see are the smaller because more manufactures seemed to go with small. The only thing that matters is the hose you feed to anf from it,you want 3/8 hosebarbs and hose, the 3/8 are used mainly, smaller hoses are for much smaller engines,if you can only buy the large for some reason, not a problem, but my experience is the smaller filters are more redaily avail.at least in the fl.keys

You only need one primer bulb. Also 5/16 ID fuel line and hose barbs are fine for your motor. 3/8" fuel line is used by the 100HP and larger motors. As was said, the size of the filter doesn't mater much.

BTW - those seperators capture the water by gravity. Make sure the seperator is mounted with the canister end down, so it can fill with water, while the fuel floats on top of the water and feeds the engine.
