Drive trim vs trailer trim question

Hello all,

I have an 85 citation with a mercrusier 3.0 L and an Alpha 1 outdrive. The outdrive and motor are (as far as I can tell) the same year.

My problem is that once I adjust the trim limit on the port side, I can get the throttle switch to work nicely. Full down and full up trim. The Problem is that the trialer up switch stops where the trim limit switch it set (21-3/4")

I suspect a bad ground on the trailer trim switch but I wanted to ask the pros before I began the wire tracing.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ayuh,... The Trailer switch is Totally independant of the trim Limit switch...
Yes,...
You've got a Wiring problem...

Re: Drive trim vs trailer trim question

Thanks Bond-o

All of the wiring diagrams I've been able to find have included only the trim switch. I surmise that the trailer switch must short the leads. I just don't know how this is done w/o my own unique brand of wiring (no one wants to see this but it gets the job done)

Also am I correct in assuming that there is no limit switch on the trailer trim that will stop the trim motor and I will just have to be listening.

Again thanks

Ayuh,... When you push the Trailer button, it By-passes the trim Limit Switch...
Power goes straight to the pump...
When you reach the Overload(Full Up) on the pump, it'll Labor,.. You'll Hear it...
Tap the Down button a couple of times to Unload the system,...
Things can get Hung Up, if not Relieved of the pressure...

Going Down,... You Hear the pump Unload at the bottom,...
