Introduction and some questions

Hi all. This forum is awesome. I've learned how valuable these forums can be AFTER I bought a Corvette, so I'm here doing my homework before buying a boat. This would be my first boat. I like the Baja type boats but I'm concerned with getting the right size. I don't want to go to big, but I don't want to be cramped either. I don't have kids, so it would mainly be for taking out friends on the weekends on the Mississippi. I like cuddy cabins, but I'm thinking unless you get into 22+ ft, the cabin really doesn't serve too much of a purpose?? Any suggestions you cold make on choosing a size for a first time boater would be appreciated.

This boat caught my eye...I was wondering what you think it would be worth in this market and time of year if everything checks out?? I'm waiting on a local marine surveyor to get back to me on a price for inspection.

Thanks

Just going from the pictures that's a pretty sweet looking boat and if it's that clean and everything checks out with your surveyor... I'd say it's a decent deal.

Great looking boat. Subject to water test.

Re: Introduction and some questions

The Baja 190 Sport is 18'6", not 19'8". But there is a 196 Sport that is 19'6". Which does he have?

These boats in excellent condition are in the $4 - $5K range in excellent condition and no more.

If the poster had put that 400 small block in it, maybe more.

Good luck.

Sweet looking boat although I prefer the newer style Baja hulls.
I have seen newer Bajas (mid '90's) for under 5000 in this same size and engine but just like we always say if you like the boat enough and it checks out ok then it is worth whatever you are willing to pay.

I love the newer Bajas. Single guys own them for one reason and one reason only. :D

Never discount the utility value of a "stabbin-cabin"... and a potty... even if they seem useless at first. Beats driving home drunk, too.
