96 merc 50hp 3 cly. It is a plastic tube that looks like it has a barbed splice on the end. Where does it go?
Also, where can one find the model number on this outboard?

Connector for a speedo. Use an open barb if you want to use it. If you don't want to lose it just use a ty wrap out of the way.

I just bought this motor taoday. One more question, the owner did not want to use the oil injection and ran the oil in the gas. If i was to continue doing this, what mixture is proper?

looks like the pieto tube connector for a speedometer.
