Anyone out there know anything about Beretta boats? I don't really recognize the name as well as brands like Sea Ray, Four Winns, Starcraft, etc., and I haven't really seen too many in the water around Michigan.

This is the one I was looking at in Flint, MI (http://flint.craigslist.org/boa/1380034973.html).

If anyone has any history or experiences with them, let me know. Any information is helpful at this point.

Thanks!

Maybe someone will come along that knows something about that brand.

But if he is trying to sell it without a prop, therefore no test run, I'd be very suspicious. Even if he offers to crank the motor on muffs, way to many things that could be wrong that won't show up without a test run on the water.

Just my .02 worth.

Be aware that OMC stern drives are no longer made and no longer fully supported with parts. Pretty sure Beretta isn't around anymore but I have seen a number of them. I think they are decent boats. A V8 is certainly good power in that size hull. Rot will be your biggest concern. Check carefully for a solid deck and transom.

My family had two of them in the mid-80s. We had a lot of fun in them.

The brand of that aged boat does not matter as much as the condition of the boat, motor, and drive.

Good luck!

I remember Baretta. My dad bought a 16' Baretta in 1980 with an 85hp V-4 Johnson. I was really little back then, but I remember loving that boat. Lots of memories and I thought it was a pretty good boat. I wish I had a Baretta sales brochure for 1980, since I remember bringing it to school to show my friends.
