Hi Bob,

Just popped by your thread to catch up since before x-mas! You are getting there at a really good pace considering all that you have had to endure!

Keep your head up and helping your bud in a shop while you are out of town is a great sanity saver! I am away from home 4 weeks at a time so I am thinking of a new project while away too....hmmmm, who can I talk into a boat here:rolleyes:

Cheers,
Yar.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hey thanks all.
This weather is really nuts.
I can't remember it staying this cold for this long.
On a good note. Tomorrow Rob and I are heading toward archbuilders home, we scored a great deal on a 4.3L mercruiser with a alpha one Gen II out drive for $500, total. :D:D
We pick it up tomorrow.
And yes it's running.
So at least I get to work on something.
Yar, Great to hear from you and thanks.
Stay warm everyone.

archbuilder,
Yeah, Muldrow, OK. Just west of Fortsmith, AR.
Thanks for the warm weather too, I'm really sick of this weather. We are supposed to get hit again starting tomorrow night.
I hope your weather stays good so you can get some paint on that boat.
Take care

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Bob,

Great job on the resto. I've been following it (and archbuilder's and micks110's) in preparation for my own rebuild. I am getting a 69 Sea Star. Boy do I have a lot to learn. I'm a TOTAL newb. Thanks to you and the others on the forum; I'm getting educated - fast.

I'm having the same weather problems as you (I'm not that far from you, up in Evansville, IN), or probably like micks. My boat is still in Bellview, OH (By Pittsburgh). Unfortunately it's under 2' of snow at the guy I'm buying it from's house. So I had to postpone picking it up next weekend. He can't get it unburied do to work.

Thanks,

Still no snow here on the northern border. I hear they are having to truck snow into Calgary for the Olimpics because they dont have any. If you want to avoind the snow, move north my friends.

Yeh something fishey is going on with this weather. We are getting some snow now up hear but upstate NY where skibum is and no snow??? And Vancouver for the olympics I read they were using fire choppers that usually dump water on fires to pick up snow from neighboring mountains to pick up snow and dump it in vancouver- that's nuts! They had to postpone some of the events because it is warm and raining there.
Bob- are you going to meet up with archbuilder? That would be pretty cool!

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
I just got back from picking up the engine. One extremely long day. I was told wrong on the outdrive it was just Alpha 1 and not Gen II but we did get to hear it run and the outdrive worked. Sounded really good, so we brought it home.
Hey Mick I would have loved to meet up with arch but time wouldn't permit it. If I would have been alone I would have taken the time.

When you get your boat be sure to post pic's and I will be sure to follow.
Thanks everyone, and I will post some pic's tomorrow if I get the chance. I will be traveling.

congrats on the 4.3 and outdrive. I would like to do the same with my searay, but may have upgrade boats down the road once the motor mounts are glassed it may be difficult to change later,

The weather is definately all a** backwards. At least we have the equipment over here to handle a big dump. We got all of our snow over the course of a couple of days but not much since.

Rain in Vancouver is normal but where all the skiing is in Whistler it's not normal.

It's hard to picture all that crazy snow in your neck of the woods.

Ahem, the olympics are in Vancouver, but yeah, they are bringing in snow there. :)

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
It looks like weather is holding everyone back. I get to go home Friday and I am going to work on the boat if I have to build a fire under it. I promise.
OK,
I know that this is kinda hijacking my own thread but I had to post these pic's.
This should remind most of you of an old friend, What thread am I talking about?
Went to pic up the motor and out drive and we heard it run and then did something I have never even dreamed of.

The actual Motor.
IMG00248.jpg

We took a trailer to pick it up, if we hadn't we would have pulled the entire boat back.
Reminded me of oop's.
More in a minute.

Back again,
I can't tell you how much I hated this, but I didn't have a choice. At least not a good one.
One more pic.

I may have to start a thread for Rob.
Stay warm all.

tallcanadian,
I didn't take the seats they weren't that good, they look ok in the pic but not in person.
I should have taken the windshield but was in to much of a hurry.
