He hasn't started one yet. It has been some adventure so far.

If you are talking about this.

It is a vacuum system for laminating.
The jig was in case the glass didn't want to lay down on top of the stringers. If you cover the wood with box tape the poly resin won't stick to it when it drys.
I never used it, by rounding the top of the stringers with my router the glass layed down perfect.
I used poly resin.
Yes, The more post you have the higher your rank. I have a lot of free time at night after work so I'm on here a lot. I have never seen it posted anywhere as to what = what.

I took another look at your vacuum pump setup. Try carrying that into an airport. Looks like a nuke

That's why I mentioned the airport thing.

Let me know if you'll ever drag that boat down to Vegas. It would cost me some gas but at least we'd have a warm place to work on the boats. I'd bet I can buy my trailer parts cheaper down there too and boat seats and ...

Every time I see that pump, I wonder about the engineering that went into it. I've wanted to get one, but didn't like the price of the bags. I've watched David Marks use his many times on DIY, and thought, now that's cool!.

The cost of the bags is high but I have found some ways around that too, that works well for a fraction of the cost.

I can be there in 24 hours... I'd be a wreck when I get there but it would be worth it for me in the savings in parts and upholstery work.

OK Folks,
I wasn't going to do this but I'm having trouble getting Rob to start a thread.
So I'm going to hijack my own thread to give you an update on this adventure.
Trust me it has been one too.
First off you should remember Robs first Boat. Yes I did say first.

OK, now the rest of the story.
I happened to tell Rob that I did find another boat that looked like it was in great shape but the boat had be stolen then recovered but the motor had been striped, but wasn't sure if it was still available. I found the number and Rob called.
Well here was the answer.

Yep meet boat # 3.
We made another road trip and looked at the boat, We had to rebuild the old trailer to make the trip too. When we got there we ended up trading trailers and bought the boat.
The stringers are good and the transom solid Needs some interior work from the sun and the motor we bought for the first boat will drop right in this one. The Old boat is to be picked up Saturday by the new owner for the same price Rob Paid for it minus the trailer.
We will be installing the motor in the new boat over the next couple weeks.

Like I said it has been an adventure, but the shortest restore period I have seen yet.
So in the short , that's the update on Rob's project to date.

Well arch,
I was going to buy it but he really wanted it so I gave it up. He is real, I couldn't make this up if I wanted to. It has been pretty funny and a lot of road trips too. This last one was picked up 40 miles North of my house too.
It has kept me busy while away from home.
