Re: transom and floor replacement

I hope everyone had as good a christmas as I did. I didnt get anything for the boat but I am considdering getting a fishfinder on clearance for $48 locally, not for finding fish but for the depthfinder built in. She did get me a new digital camera so I guess I will be taking a lot more pics for the thread. I may have to shrink them a bit because it is 12.1 mp :). the kids made out, You could barely see the tree behind all the presents.

Good choice. Easypoxy is AWESOME!!!

I just went from this:

to this (the green is the tape):

I rolled and rolled it. This stuff levels out so nice I think you could apply it with a push broom and it would look fantastic. The gloss is incredible. The blue you see there is 1 coat!

Only negatives are related to the big positive of how well it flows.....it will not hide any imperfections. So if you've got some scratches, better fix them ahead of time or use a high build primer. And also this paint WILL run. Keep a very close eye on it after you apply it so you can fix them up.

ezmobee, I will be painting my boat next year. How many quarts would you say you used on your hull?

Re: transom and floor replacement

My wife left this morning :( so now I will have to find the boat under the tons of cardboard from christmas. I will be ordering the gelcoat next week as I bought a fishfinder yesterday for only $47. Couldnt pass up that good of a deal. So there wont be alot of progress for a couple weeks which is killing me.

Hey thanks for the idea on the transom inner skin- I did it tonight- I was kicking that idea around in my head I was just worried that I would screw up the dimensions by getting to much poly over the edges but it worked just fine(I hope- we'll see tomorrow if it fits).

Sorry to hear your wife is off again. At least she got to spend Christmas and New Years with you and the kids!

SKIBUM1M,
Sorry to hear the wife had to leave again. Hopefully her job will keep her somewhat safe.
I'm also sorry that you won't be getting anything done on the boat too.
I like reading about your progress.
It looks like mine is going to be going slow too.
The temps here are fore-casted to be only in the 30's for highs, for the next couple weeks and I have to go back to Mexico Sunday.
Well take care and I'll talk to ya later.

SKIBUM1M,

Hope you had a good visit over Christmas. I'm glad your wife got to come home. We really appreciate her, (and your) sacrifices.

I'm following everybody's work while trying to formulate a plan for mine. I don't even know what to look for in electronics yet. Good score on the fishfinder though.

Re: transom and floor replacement

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement for my wife and I. It was very hard to let her go back.
Here is a link to my new fishfinder http://www.eaglenav.com/Products/Fishfinders/CUDA-242/
At first I just wanted a depth guage but this has shallow and deep alarms as well as water temp and voltage alarms. I am not much of a fisherman but this is a neat toy and It will let me know when the lake is getting shallow so I can hopefully avoid hitting anything under the surface.

Re: transom and floor replacement

Thank you Joe. She actually reads my thread once in a while to see what I am doing while she is gone so she will get the message. I know that it doesnt seem like much but words of encouragement do mean alot to both of us.

Re: transom and floor replacement

Has anyone ever used Duratec High-Gloss Additive? What are the advantages of it? Does it make much difference? Would you use it again? Since you mix 1:1 does it make the gelcoat cover twice as much area? I am ordering my gelcoat on wednesday and wondering if I should order a gallon of gelcoat and a gallon of Duratec or should I just order two gallons of gelcoat?

Nice work on the boat, toy boxes and T-Bird. I just finished checking our your car pics.

Has some fun with the wife. The other girl will sit in the driveway and wait until you can get back at her again.

You know sprintst you may have just given me an idea for a name for the boat. "The other woman" what do you think? I will have to run it by the wife.
