engine starts great on low speed but not great on high speed

my engine 70 evinrude starts great at low speed but when she goes in high speed it starts to make this 'ploppin' noise, i am wondering is it is carb problems or what??

Yes, sounds like the high speed jet is clogged on a carb, it's leaning out, don't run it until you take the carbs off , soak them, and possibly put a kit in them.

No the float is connected to the needle which goes into a seat. The seat is usually the high speed jet. Related but different. I often use the analogy of a toilet, when the float raises to the top of the water the flow stops, picture water as being gas, except a toilet doesn't have a needle and seat , it has a valve. Same pricipal.

well its me again... we did what you said we cleaned the high speed jets in the carb, change power pack, changed the coils, changed the trigger, changed status coil. the engine runs sometimes on 2 carbs and then other times it runs on the opposite carbs, can it be the arrow pump or fuel pump? should i change the fuel pump. Help!!

Why did you change all the electronics out???? All I said was to rebuild the carbs and see what you get, with kits to begin with?

That doesn't answer my question of why it is you changed out all the electronics if I suggested that it may be carb related.

we changed the carbs an still reacted the same way but it hits on 2 cylinders at 1 time next day it hits on the opposite 2, could it be the fuel pump? arrow system changed to mixed gas shud i take the arrow system an put it as a regular fuel pump?

Is this a 1970 evinrude or a 19?? 70hp evinrude, got a model number for us?

not sure what year it is but all we know that it is in the 90's because it has a arrow system an yes its a 70 hp evinrude an we are not sure what the model number is. but the question is why would would it hit on 2 carbs then hit on the opposite 2 at other times?

Your motor only has 3 carbs if it's a 70 and I don't know what an arrow system is.
