Well I have all our stands repaired or rebuilt and ready for dawn. No, I won't be in the woods, my son will. He drove home from Ga Southern this afternoon and is all set to get a real trophy buck. If you own land in Washington Ga it doesn't take you long to get spoiled. This afternoon on the way home from work a little 6-8 point tight rack buck ran across the road less than a half mile from my driveway. Hardly worth getting excited about anymore because we live with them all year and worry more about whacking one with the car or truck (wife did $3000.00 damage to our PT Cruiser this year). Any way with a season that lasts till Jan 1st and a harvest of 10 antler less and 2 antlered (one must be 4 point) we could legally shoot 36 deer a year. No way, too much work for one and I do like my Angus. Anyway last year son shot one doe for meat in December and that was the total harvest between the three of us.
Now tomorrow afternoon I may walk down to the penthouse stand and sit till dark. Nope, not likely to shoot anything, just for the fun of being in the woods on opening day without the chill of opening morning.
You going fishing or hunting on opening day in your state?
