I scored big!

So the other day, I opened up my email and saw a friend of mine was offering me a free boat. I thought COOL! So it turns out, he said that there was a 25 hp and an 8 hp. So I figured okay, there's a couple antique motors to tinker with. So, Whednesday, I went out and checked out this "free boat" It turns out, that it's a 1957 Seaswirl P-14 and the two motors are a 1986 25hp Evinrude, which has low hours on a rebuild and 1 1974 Johnson 6hp. Both motors are almost new condition and run great. I have the boat up for sale now, because I have my house up for sale and I want to get a nice little 16' Smoker craft to put the 25 on and maybe a car topper for the 6.

So, how does your friend who just gave you the boat feel about your selling it?

That wasn't the question. How does he feel about it?

Seems very rude to me.

Your friend may have been happy and wishing for you to become captain of his boat, not sell it?

Re: I scored big!

Well, damn, it seems like I ruffled some feathers here. I guess I should elaborate on things a little more, before some of you guys get too judgemental. The boat had sat under trees for almost 20 years, being neglected and was covered with enough algae to hide the numbers and names and managed to have a tree fall on it. Inside the boat, I found two rusted out fuel tanks and three buckets of pine needles. It only took me two days to clean it up to make it sellable. Not to worry, the two motors have been cleaned up and are in good care and will sail on. The main reason why I'm selling the boat, is because my house is up for sale and I can't really take it with me when the house sells. I plan on moving over 2,000 miles away, from my current location. Is my friend offended that I'm selling the boat? No! He's just happy that I hauled it away and helped clean up the property, which he just sold. I do plan on doing these motors more justice, by puting them on a newer, classier Smoker Craft, or Sylvan and making a nice outfit. Don't worry, I won't share the details, because it might upset someone here.

;) yep Well this old boat would make someone a great restoration project. Unfortunately, I can't take on any projects at this time.

Yea, sometimes I do too. This time though it worked out good. Last year, a guy gave me a nice 15hp Johnson. He overheated it and scored the pistons a bit, but it ran pretty good.
