What is the best prop pitch for a mercury 18 hp (1982 model)? Small aluminum boat used for fishing.

Post this in the prop section and then read the 10,000 or so posts there. you should be able to come up with something.

Whats wrong with the one you have?

Motor vibrates at top speed.

If thats the only problem then try a different one of the same design to make sure that it is the problem. It could be a bent shaft or ????

Better yet, try any other one for the test, and then if its fixed replace the bad one with the same dia and pitch and rake and cupping and so on.

Try spinning it with your hands and look closely from the side. If there is a difference in the blades or a bent shaft, you should be able to see it.
I got a 25hp motor used. When I got it home I spun mine just messing around and found a bent shaft! I actually straightened mine and been running fine for 3 years now.
