Johnson 10 hp what year ser#1865160 picture inc.

I recently bought a johnson seahorse 10 hp. It needs some work but I need to know what year and model before I can order parts.I found the ser#1865160 but can not find model or year any where on motor.Please help!

there's normally a transom clamp tag, and a welch plug on the powerhead that has model stamped on it too. A photo would help get ya close too.

Thank you for your reply. The tag on the trans. bracket has been removed.The ser.# I included is from the welch plug.The closest I have come ,looking at pictures, is a 1959 but it had a single fuel line from the gas tank. Mine has 2 lines,1 fuel and 1pressure line.Please help

The 59 motors used a pressure tank with the two line hose.
Single line began in 60.

It's a '59, '60 or possibly '61 if it has a 2 line system. When you order parts, they all are probably the same, but check w/your dealer.

It's a 1959. That was the last year for dual line systems on OMCs. Plus, it was the only year they had the round appliqu? on the top of the cowling. 1960s had an arrow appliqu?.

Nice motors. I have three 10s to go through this winter - a 1955 Johnson, 1958 Evinrude and 1960 Evinrude.

1959 serial numbers were 1,743,081--1,995,465. So, anybody that said 1959 is the winner. Model number would be CD-16.

napa carries 'sierra' brand aftermarket parts, BRP (bombardier recreational products) carried over evinrude/johnson parts and are available/orderable at most marinas, Tim's outboard in Hackensack, mn has a boneyard of virtually every used part imagineable 218-682-2331. Clutch dog might be tricky.. Call Tim's first to see if he's got a good, used one..

Don't be afraid to check your local Evinrude/Johnson dealer. If you're north of the Mason-Dixon, they might be more willing to help you out this time of year as we head into winter and their sales taper off. Dealer parts tend to be pricey, but there again - might be able to work a deal if things are slow.

Why do you need a clutch dog and gears, if I may ask. Nice looking old motor by the way. It doesn't look like one that would have a bad lower unit.

motor kicks out of gear in forward and reverse..gears and clutch dog worn thats why i need to replace them

you can check laingsoutboards.com, vintageoutboard.com, maxrules.com... these sites carry lots of used and new parts for these old motors.. They have some listings of parts and some you may have to call or e-mail to ask if they have it available.. good luck

It's a 10hp. Should be a QD-20.
