I need to replace my blower hose. I currently have the flimsy plastic stuff with a wire wrapped down the center. I was wondering if dryer hose will work also. or Dust collection hose. They both are 4". What have people used and there success?

Re: Blower Hose Replacement

I got replacement blower vent hose from iBoats. . . the flimsy stuff. It holds up well. No reason to go with aluminum dryer hose.

....my vote is AGAINST aluminum dryer hose, in my V 20 atleast.
The routing runs by terminal blocks, trim pump and battery boxes......I really don't need another potential electrical short !!!!

FWIW....Ed in 'ol Virginny

That flimsy stuff is what they come from the factory with. No reason not to replace it with the same stuff.

go to the drainage section of the depot or lowes and pick out a coreggated tube of the right diameter, various materials are available.

Thanks,
I didn't think about the conductive issue. That's why I love it here.

I used the 4" dryer vent white plastic hose for mine and holds up very well, no problems here.

The hard plastic stuff usually doesn't come in sizes that small, and it isn't easily bent in small/tight spaces. The vinyl dryer hose/stock blower hose serves this purpose well.

Re: Blower Hose Replacement

ok, my second question is this...

How should the hoses be run? Right now, they both come from the right side of the boat. They are connected to a blower, but not sure where they should be routed to?

They should be routed to a low area of the bilge near the engine. There should also be another hose from the opposite side vents running there too with no blower.

Those marine flex hoses aren't as flimsy as you think, had to drag mine down the gunnel , 90 degs at the deck and through a hole in the stringer, I thought it would tear but it didn't.

You should have an air intake hose coming from one side of the boat and thats your fresh air leading down into the bilge area, then a shorter hose goes from the bilge and connects to the air intake on the motor, then a longer hose from the air out to the air out vent on the side of the boat. The white hose is the fresh air intake hose on my boat. The black hose is the two hoses for the air from the engine compartment out through the vent out of the boat, Understand? (I hope) here some pics to kind of show ya what I mean.
White (fresh air in). Black (air out)
