Evinrude 9.9/15 Carb - Orifice won't budge

I got my 15hp carb apart and the main orifice won't budge, upon trying to remove it after letting it soak with penetrating oil the brass on the plug broke. This carb was water submerged. I put vise grips on it only to shred the brass. Should I drill it out, anyone got any other ideas to remove this bad boy?

Thanks

Hmm I would try and put some heat on it. if not then an easy out will work but will destroy it.

Destroy the carb or the orifice? I don't care about the orifice.

Isn't putting heat to a carb dangerous?

Its a little dangerous but I,ve done it before, after a thorough cleaning with just hot water and drying. I also use crc knock'er loose, it works almost every time.

It's ok, I broke the ez out off, it's really in there. Carb is now junk.

Machine shop might be able to get it out.

Can't you just replace the carburetor bowl & orifice? You shouldn't have to buy a whole carburetor.

I've said many times: There is no such thing as an Easy Out. It isn't easy and it doesn't get it out.

The orifice isn't in the bowl, it's screwed into the carb.

We have a local guy here in Santa Ana, California, his name is Jerry. His business is Jerry's broken tap and die removal. He uses an EDM machine and can get any broken tap, die, easy-out, or screw out without damaging the threads. He charges about $20-$35.00 per screw depending on what it is. There must be someone in your area who does the same thing, check under machinist in your local listings.

I'm not clear about what it is your removing. Can you give a part number? If it's the HS jet behind the orifice plug it isn't made to be removed and you will continue to ruin as many carbs. as you can get your hands on. If it is on the parts list, it is probably removable. The tiny screws that hold the choke and throttle plates are not removable either. Best of luck. Rick.

If you pull the carb bowl off and flip the carb, there is a brass threaded orifice that has a hole in the center of it, it is removable and comes in the kit, I replaced it on my 9.9 carb, it's in the center of the carb. It won't budge and now had a broken ez out in the center of it.
