How do I tie the anchor line to this boat??

Hi, just bought my first boat, a 14' Westcoaster with 7.5 hp 4 stroke. It's welded and hull is in great shape. I'm rigging for use and realized there appears to be no place to tie off an anchor line on this thing. No cletes or handles to be found. I've seen pics of similar boats (Valco/Gregor) that have a handle on the bow which I think could be used as an anchor tie, but my boat doesn't have it and there aren't any holes where it would have been.

I imagine I could tie it to one of the side supports at the benches, but I'd rather anchor in the bow. Could also use the eye that I connect the trailer to, but I'd rather not lean over the bow to tie off my anchor if I can avoid it.

Hopefully I'm missing something obvoius, anyone have any advice for me?

Sounds like you will have to install a cleat or a handle of some type...

Post some pics, it will help identify where and what size cleat to install...

Keep it simple. Tie off to the bow eye.

Put a snap hook on the end of your anchor line then hook it to your bow ring.

At least he tied it off. Too many times I've seen someone throw the anchor (why do they always throw them?) and watched the whole rode follow it down. As a diver I loved those guys.

For now, tie off the bow eye (safest place to anchor) and then tie a short smaller line about 4' down from the eye that you can use to retrieve from the side without hanging over.
You need stern cleats for mooring, but do not tie your anchor there. Very dangerous.
A handle on the front will come in handy for lots of occassions. You can buy all these parts at boat stores or online. Rigging your boat the way you want it is half the fun.

My dad did that once. We were in a shallow salt water creek to fish for Blue Crab. Tossed the anchor without ensuring the line was untangled and the whole rode went over. He did end up snagging the line with a fishing hook and getting it back...

Thanks for the input. I'm gonna take it out on a trail run this weekend. For now I'm going to avoid drilling holes and installing cletes and try the bow ring. Who knows, after I try it out I may have much larger problems than where to tie off my anchor line!!:D
