Hi everybody,

I have a Volvo 5.7GS and am wondering if there is a picture around any where that shows where to insert a tube to pump the oil out of the sump to do an oil change.

The typical process and preferred method is to suck it out of the dipstick tub.

Check to see if the top of the dipstick tube has a threaded area about the size of the male end on a garden hose. You can get a cheap pump that will screw right on.

I have tried the tube down the dip stick trick but the dip stick tube runs from the front of the motor to the rear. The tubes I have do not reach the oil. So maybe I need to get longer tubes.

I thought there may be a hole with a plug in it somewhere towards the deepest end of the sump to acces the oil

What year is your GS?

Typically you don't need to use an additional "tube." The dipstick tub itself goes to the bottom of the oil pan for the sole reason to utilize it to suck out the oil by use of an electric or hand operated pump. The appropriate pump literally screws onto the top of the dipstick tube etc.

Hi, My GS is 1999

The dip stick shows oil to the correct makings but the tube sucks air with the vacuum pump
