water cooled exhaust leg

i got a eska and a clinton with air cooled head and water cooled exhaust leg . What cools the leg is there a waterpump impeller in there?

Should be.
My exhaust cooled Gamefisher had a small impeller installed exactly like a water cooled engine.

Would depend on the year and hp some have the impeller others a pickup tube that gets water from the prop wash.Motors are generally unreliable and finicky.

thanks ,still working on getting it running ,i will see if the foot comes off.i have 5 older kickers now i am redoing a 1963 5.5hp johnrude

Parts availability for the air-cooled Clintons and Eskas is hit-and-miss.
?air-cooled? is fitted at many of the Clintons and Eskas with water pumps which cooled the motor?s ?leg? and the bottom of the engine block.

Your 5.5 is 10 times the motor as the Eska/Clintons.

i know thats why iam redoing 63 5.5 johnson iam just gona get these other ones running to beat .next project is a 65 9,8 mercury has bad foot but motor looks and runs great
