Cracking sounds after Gluvit?

Last Sunday at 70 degrees I applied Gluvit to my rivets and joints. It has sat idle since then in the garage. Today I went on board and while walking around the first few minutes heard about 3 or 4 loud cracks. Anybody else have this happen. I did not use more than others from what I have seen in their pics. Some running but not excessive.

Right now that worries me. It did not leak in the 1.5 hours I had it in the water before I began work.

Re: Cracking sounds after Gluvit?

It was probably just expansion and contraction of the hull itself due to a temp change. Gluvit is a semi flexible coating so I doubt it would induce any cracking sounds. I've used it on nearly every aluminum boat I've owned and not once had any problems.

I didn't notice that after I did mine. If you're worried you can do a second coat (package recommends it), but since it is somewhat flexible I don't think I'd worry too much about it. By the way, nice job on the seats too.

Well the gluvit has tightened everything up. I would not worry about the cracking noises unless you see gallons of water flowing in  :D

I am willing to say it will be fine and the noises will go away.

HA! same thing happened to me. I heard a few pops on my tinnny after the gluvit set. I figured if the gluvit cracked and it is going to leak, it has to leak less than what it did. So in any event I would still be ahead of the curve.:D
