exhaust dont work

I have pulled the old 470 out of my boat, and dropped in a 302. The risers output is about an inch aft of the y pipe. Is there some sort of different length of riser, a funny boot, or spacer to bring the y pipe up at a different angle?

Anybody with any experience with this? Please help.

Im afraid my only option is to cap the y pipe and run the exhaust straight out the transom. It will look reel cool, but I want to avoid the extra noise.

you will have to change to the correct risers you cant dog-leg a rubber piece there or it will burn thru.
If you decide to go thru hull, don't cap off the Y-pipe. Remove it and either buy, or make a block off plate for where the Y-pipe attaches. You can buy mufflers for the noise if it is an issue.
The up side to going thru the hull is an increase in performance> If you go that way, remember to remove the exhaust bellows.

What did you use for a Y-pipe? What manifolds are you using? 'nutcase

Merc used ford engines for a few years - there are still y-pipes out there, but probably expensive.

Any idea where I would find these risers? And what they might be called? I have only been able to find one fit for the 302, the only options I have found is the angle of the output.

Motor has stock manifolds, and dont know where y pipe came from. $75 on ebay.

Do you have the log style exhaust manifold?

You can go to a center riser manifold to give you more room to make alterations...otherwise, you can cut back the elbow length to match up with the Y pipe.
