I don't think that (for example) my opinion or any other member's opinion reflects on iboats itself. I was under the impression that this is an open forum.

Respectfully, if a person is going to overpower a hull, don't you think he should be given information to do it as safely as possible? This person HAS a 115 and most likely will mount it on his hull. Is it better to close the thread and let him rip out the transom with the engine?

In my humble opinion, closing the thread was an over-reaction and is like telling schoolkids to not have sex when you know that no matter what you say, they will anyway.
So: Is it not better that they at least know what they are doing?

OOPS! Opened another can of worms there!

BTW: I found the Canadian vs US regulations enlightening--I wonder if a few of the European and South American members could chime in.

Re: Moderator Bob--re rated for 80.

from playing in Venezuela with 15 and 16ft baja knockoffs with 225,s on the back, HP rating is meaningless.
last I read and it may have changed, hull strength had NO bearing in HP, simply its lxw and flotation and the ability to turn the HELM,not boat but HELM 180 degrees at max throttle and not eject the helmsman.
most or USCG rules are over 40 years old and way way past need for updating.
while repowering various hulls and the customer wants a single F350 or F300 the only way we will do it is if the hull manufacturer will send us, on company letter head, a release that the hull can handle 870 pounds single engine on the transome and is ok for use with a V8 outboard. if not we wont mount it.
got lawyers here that not all countries have.
gotta protect the idiots from themselves.

Closing it was not a bad decision in my opinion.

I agree. i would have closed it also.

IBoats and the Mods take this site very seriously. Encouraging stuff like this can only lead to problems and with enough "Inexperienced Boaters" on the site, can have lasting sometimes dangerous results.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Also no one should be questioning a decision from mods.

I think this one should be closed too.

Yes gentlemen..... this one is also closed. Any discussion on moderators decisions should be sent to the moderators and is not open for discussion.

I view this as a safety issue. I am sure everyone understands.

Thanks.
