I am gonna be getting my hands dirty here shortly and need some ideas and suggestions. I have a 1991 Galaxy that I plan on taring out the interior. The floor etc is fine just needs the seating done. I plan on arranging it a little differently than originally. It is a 23' cuddy with one back to back and then a captains seat with a sink, stove and cooler console behind it. In the rear there is a the engine cover and then a seat on each side. As mentioned I plan on arranging the floor plan slightly differently. I am still brainstorming but below are the ideas that I have came up with. Any other ideas or suggestions would be great.

Option 1. Use the the original glass console on the captains side and then a new back to back on the port side. The console will need a good cleaning but other than that it is in good shape and can easily be renewed. I can get this to look nice and original but then I loose space to a sink, stove etc that will likely never get used. Above the engine I would build a large bench seat. It would have to be atleast 32"dx 67w & 24" high.

Option 2. would be the same as above but with two back to backs on both the captain and port side. This would remove the original console but give me a bit more seating options.

Option 3. Would be to remove both the original back to back and captains chair console and replace them both with either pedestal seats or jump seats. Then above the engine I would build a 32"-40" x 67" tanning deck with a bench seat below it. The bench seat would be roughly 22"h x 18"d.

Gotta tell ya, I think that console thing is silly. I'd go with a lounge on the passenger side, and a posh bucket for the driver. Bench or jump seats in the rear.

My boat is setup like yours in the rear and it is getting converted to a sundeck instead of the side by side seats. I think the sundeck, though it takes up a lot of space, will provide you with a ton of 'dirty' storage and make things look much more organized.

I like that idea too, plus you have a lot of nice space you can lay on and soak up the sun... pretty nice at rest!

I agree with ezmobee,
If your not going to use the console why keep it. A nice capt. chair. and jump seats.
I have found that the sun deck looks good but really doesn't get used much. Especially not by me. Everyone I know seems to be very thankful for that too.:D

Ok... I did some running around today and got a bunch of gear. Haven't had a chance to do much since my gf is driving my truck due to wrecking her car (hit a cow on the highway). Anyways I didn't do much but gave it a good look over. Turns out that the engine cover will be a easy salvage. The structure is still very solid just the rotted vinyl covering it that is bad. Probably tomorrow I am gonna recover it and keep the rear original. Liked the bench/deck idea but this will save me time and money. With the console being in good shape I am gonna go ahead and powerwash it and replace the seats for now. I really find it useless as well but will be a very easy fix for now. I will likely replace it after the rest is done. I will keep everyone posted on how it works out.

Looks great, I assume you are using stainless staples and treating the plywood before assembly, otherwise the staples will rust and the plywood will get black mold all over it.

Yikes... I never stained the wood or used stainless staples. Leason learned. Anyways I got some more done today. Doesnt look all fancy and what not but it does look better and is atleast solid.

I had to do two panels due to the length. My biggest regret is not adding some sort of stripes to add some contrast. I will say this is a learning experience. Due to time and room I did not add the compartments on this panel.

Since this pic I have tightend up the seam where to two panels meet. Looks better.

I don't know if it's too late, but you can get stainless steel screws, that a cap snaps over the top to give a more finished look.
Just another ideal.
Keep it going.:D
Have a great day.

You cant tell from the pics but the screws are stainless with finishing washers not just the screw heads sticking out. Doesnt look to bad.

I just Suggested them because I liked the way they looked.
I hope I didn't offend you. Was not my intent.
Keep up the good work.

Trust me you in no way hurt my feelings. Just wanted to mention that the finishing washers add a bit of cleanleness to the screws. Now of course I could of ran nuts/bolts behind the vinyl but I dont have the time or paitence for that. Gotta have the boat done this week so I can get it off the street. Right now I am focused on getting the old rot out and the new wood in. As long as it is solid, safe and functional I am happy with it. I will say that I do like your button idea. Seems like a easy solution. Just run the screws through the button and snap the cap on I take it? I have the below buttons on my Wellcraft which are probably similar to what you are talking about. Would of used them but had no luck finding them locally. I can always add them next year easy.
