Im at a loss and could use some suggestions.I have a 99 optimax dfi 225.Up until last week I've had no real issues.Whats happening is when I go to plane it out, after a few moments I lose voltage to my guages then the motor will stall minutes later.
I cleaned all the battery terminals and cable ends, replaced the battery switch.Sometimes after stalling I still get response from the trim switch and sometimes I dont.If I let it sit a little while it will start back up.It will also let me run it at 900 rpms without stalling. Its just when I put a load on it.

Any help is appreciated.

I spoke to a few mechanics this week and they suggest checking the main harness connection for discoloration or build up.Ive also read that they are very battery dependable.I had 2 800 cca interstate starting batteries in there originaly.I replaced one with a west marine 820 cca deep cell.It has the issue on batt 1 batt 2 or both.Hopefully I can get down to it tommorow to check a couple more things.

With the information that you supplied, I would assume a bad connection in your main wiring harness. Also, check all grounds on your motor, as this also can cause problems with EFI's.

Re: 99 opti 225 electrical issues.

I finally got a couple hours today to check out the boat.I opened the main harness and it looked good.Removed the ground from the motor and cleaned it up,was a little dirty and not real tight just snug.
I checked the voltage on the starting battery it was at 11.7.Now here is another question.Because it doesnt hold a charge at rest will that screw me up under power. On a fast idle at 3000 rpms it does run up to 14.4..But when you shut it down it drops.I want to fish this weekend and Im hoping its just a battery.

Put your current battery on a charger and see if it comes up to a full 13.3 volts and then after resting settles to 12.6v and stays there for at least a day. If it does, something is drawing power on your boat or engine when everything should be off.

Your alternator is putting out an adequate amount of voltage to charge a good battery but if the majority of that current is going to charging a battery with shorted cells it could be robbing the engine to do that.

It's one of those "Hummm could be" situations. Charge the battery and see what happens. Set aside a 100.00 out of Friday's paycheck just in case you need a new one and I think you can go fishin.

I moved the bilge to the deep cell so theres nothing on the cranking battery. After I put the motor up the voltage dropped to 11.9v and didn't come back up.Its got to be that battery.

Im not gonna be happy till that 25lb striper is landed.
