Looking for some recco's from you iboat gurus on purchasing a trailer:

2005 Doral Monticello cruiser, 6400lb dry, 8'6 beam, 25.5 boat length, 28.5 LOA w/ platform. fuel 65gal, water 30gal, waste 30gal, water heater 6gal so I figure 960lbs + 6400 gives me 7360.

Is that how you should figure? Just assume the boat is full of fuel, water, and waste to come up with a weight figure for a trailer capacity? I have minimal other stuff on the boat, maybe 100lbs worth.

What are advantages/disadvantages between aluminium and galv steel construction?

How about double vs. triple axle for roughly the same GVWR? adv/disadv of double vs. tripler?

How about brakes, what is good, better, best?

Lastly, any dealers, websites etc..that you know of that may have a deal?

I am in Minneapolis, MN metro area.

thanks in advance! I appreciate it.

Re: Trailer for 05 Doral Monticello

If you are not going to be in salt water, I would go with a quality custom steel tanden axle trailer with disc brakes on each axle. This trailer will load easly and pull without the sway and flex of the al trailer. Brands in this market would be Heritage and Eagle that make this type of trailer.

In Minnesota so no saltwater. Hmm Good point on steel vs alum.
