Is there some way you could post the model number of the engine? It is stamped on a plate on the left transom mount of the motor. How many horse power is it?

Nope, the boat is 50 km away from me....:(

I was told in another thread that i should stay away from those electric shifters since there is no parts for them. I quess it is the case

The motor in the pictures absolutely is an electric shift (Electramatic). It has magnetically energized clutches in the lower unit.

Now, if all else were equal, I would prefer the electric over the dog shift. However, the electric shift has a switch in the control that is hard to find and costs nearly as much as you paid for the whole rig. As for the electric lower unit, condition is everything. If it is misused and abused and full of water, it is junk, no matter what shifts it. Finally, it is nearly impossible to find a shop that will work on either kind, but especially the electric. That is due to hard to find parts, expense, lack of special tools, and just plain ignorance. Not many of us old geezers around anymore that know how to fix one.
