I have a 1997 Bayliner 2002 walkaround cuddy cabin. I bought the boat right recently and am a bigtime neat and clean guy. I want to buff out and polish it inside and out. It has some normal wear and tear for a 97 nothing major. But I want it to shine shine. I look around at local Marine outlets and every brand claims to be the best. I want to give it a good compound machine buff and then polish. It has some light spider cracks here and there as well...any advice on rubbing those out, perhaps a light wet sand in those areas, and what kind of compound/polish for the major overall buff. What say you! Thanks in advance

Unfortunately spider cracking, or crazing, cannot simply be buffed out. To get rid of them for good it is necessary to grind out the crack, refill the area with fiberglass and resin, color match and re-gelcoat the area. It is possible to simply grind it out and color match a new layer of gelcoat. But doing it that way risks the crack coming back.
Another method initials grinding out the crack, filling the area with filler and gelcoating or painting. But again, any method that goes into the laminate needs to get a layer of fiberglass. The method you choose depends on the reason the crack formed in the first place.

If you want a quick "restoration" of the finish with little effort I recommend Poli-Glow products. A friend of mine used the system on a Monterrey for sale this past summer and it came out great. New shiney finish for about $60.

Incidently this how many used boats get sold.

I used a 3m wax/compound combo that was very impressive on faded gelcoat. I believe they make a lot of restore type waxes and compuonds for different applications.
