Mercruiser 120 4cyl.. How many years was this engine available?

Looking for information on Mercruiser 120 (2.5 liter??). How many years was this engine available? Do they all interchange to what ever mercruiser stern drive you would have? In other words will a 1988 (if they made one in 88') 120 fit in an older boat that had 120?

Is the 125 the same engine?

They were used from 64 thru 89.
They may not all "Bolt up" from one year to another. Usually due to linkage and manifold, riser, down pipe designs.
Never heard of a 120 called a 125. Volvo had an AQ125, but it was a Volvo motor, not a Chevy.
