I just purchased a boat from a friend it?s a 1999 and it has less than 40hrs on it. He only ran it 12 times in 10 years the rest of the time it was in the garage. I have no power to get it up on a plain. I had a friend that is a mechanic help me rebuild it and am still having problems. Its intermittent only (works right 2 or 3 times on a day trip) when I go full throttle it bogs down and wont get up on a plane. Every once in a while it will kick in and jump up and run fine. At idle it runs smooth and if I trim up enough to cavities the prop the engine revs and I can drop it back down and it will plane out and run full speed just fine. I?m going crazy here so any help will be much appreciated.

sounds like a fuel delivery problem and/or water/debris in the fuel system. have you flushed the fuel tank?

Also in the Adults Only sticky is a list of things that will cause low WOT rpm. Have a look at it. There are tests for the fuel system that havasu spoke of. Read the info there. That is what i's there for to begin with. Because it's a very common problem.
