timing Q.

When setting the timing on a reverse rotating Mercruiser 5.liter 228-v8,am i using the btc.on the timing plate as the advance setting on this motor?So assuming im looking for 8 degrees advance would it be the 8 degrees btc.setting? Thanks in advance.

Describe how your engine rotates. How do you know you have a reverse rotating engine?

All we need is some basic information. How did you determine it`s rotation.
If the timing tab is from a std. motor ,use 8 deg. after TDC. Unless you have a reverse timing tab, then use 8 deg. BTDC.
