The 2986 box uses a trigger with flat slotted rotor disk and the 4411 uses a rotor cam like a relucter wheel, it call a houseshoe style trigger and it will have a blue wire on the box from trigger where 2986 has a blk/wht/brn to box.

I understand and at this moment I cant tell you because I just bought a used Distributor off of ebay and dont know how its setup inside.Just alittle info when I bought this boat 6 months ago it ran okay but not like it should so I started to educate myself and found out that nothing on this motor matches with whats supposed to be on it.The distributor was gutted and rigged up with points real genius work but not right. No switchbox had instead a relay box.Really kinda all jacked up.So I am trying to get it back to stock.I think the only thing I got going for me is that the Motor has good compression.LOL:)

I got my Distributor in today from e-bay and the wires on the Distributor are brown/black and white. So I am guessing I need a switchbox 2986.Do you by chance have one?
Thanks in advance I appreciate it.

Here's a 6-cyl box on eBay that'll work on yours as well. Note that some older switchboxes had a tach output and if your tach is running off the switchbox you'd need a 4-cyl one.

As long as your tach is coming off the rectifier (or you don't have a tach at all), either 4 or 6-cyl switchboxes will do.

I still have the orignal tach thats supposed to be run off the redcitifier but I have installed an after market tach that I had hooked up to the coil. But thats awhole different setup than it was from stock.this motor was altered and ran off of points.I would love to tell you all about it.Believe me this was a night mare.I am slowly getting it back to its origanal state.I bought this boat from someone that had no Idea what he was doing. And I definately didnt know, but I am learning real quick. And thank you for the ebay suggestion will look into it.:)
