No-one has knows what you are asking or what that engine is or what yr.

When you say terminated, do you mean its not connected to anything?

I understand what the question is but we need a little more info to give an accurate answer. Obviously it's a Yamaha but what year?

Re: 30A Fuse Just Terminated

Sorry, I have my motor in my signature but I guess I could be talking about any motor. Anyway the motor in question is a S150 TXRX (1999) 2 stroke. On the starboard side(as sitting on boat) the motor has a 30A fused line comming from behind the black box above it but it is just plugged off what I called terminated.

Reason for question is when I purchased boat the motor PTT wasn't working so I have been going over motor and finding a couple things like the 2 large bolts laying in bottom of cowl not connected (which turned out to be the starter bolts, from a different post), the intake manifold hose that connects to the lower port on the air silencer disconnected, etc. so I'm trying to isolate further problems or maybe solve why the PTT isn't working.

I do have a OEM service manual but not one of the most intuitive manuals I've ever used.

You might be on the right track that the 30 amp fuse is involved with the inop PTT. Thats a lot of current so it could be involved with a heavy load trim pump. If you have the manual, the color codes on the wires should point you in the right direction. Im very color blind so color coded wires never helped me out. Have to agree the YAMAHA manuals leave a lot to be desired. FRED

Thanks Fred, very disappointed with that manual too expecially that it set me back 90$$. Will keep hunting and try to isolate problem. May get another mfg manual too that may have additional info to add to my library.

Re: 30A Fuse Just Terminated

its a battery Isolator lead.
its for charging a second or hose battery thats not connected to the starting battery.
most all yamaha V6 motors from 90 up and most larger four strokes have this feature built into the regulator assy.
not many techs and fewer riggers know what it is or does much less how to rig it but its there.
power for the trim and tilt is tapped off the start relay.

Re: 30A Fuse Just Terminated

Thanks Rodbolt. Was hoping for easy fix on PTT but good to know what it's for now because I do run 2 batteries. I will have to start looking for blow fuses and voltage readings. Seems like a lot of PTT on Yams fail. I'm wordering is it a weak link or the motor not in the correct position when being towed?

trim and tilt failure on that motor is very rare unless its customer induced.
start a new thread about your TnT failure and what failed.
