Re: Water pump

Two vanes were messed up. The biggest one, I found in the pump.
The other was very small, maybe 1/4 of the other. I did not see it.

Re: Water pump

:confused::rolleyes:Today, No good.
Cleaned the base up, a bit.
Put it back together. Ran it on the muff. Got some steam and a few drops
of something.
Put it a Gcan, with running water, with out the muff, Steam more than the
muff.
I can feel pulsing (?) in the exit tube, but just steam-the smoke.
Going to give it a rest for a few.
I replaced the plate and both gaskets. on either side. Replaced the
impeller and made sure the top of the tube is clear.
Taken it apart so many times I've worn out the nylon on the locking nuts.
(I have new ones).
The pulsing I feel kind of has me concerned, but it does not quite match the
motor...:(:(:(

Re: Water pump

So did you say your motor has no thermostat. I just changed the impeller in my xr2 150 and flushed the lines and still no water came out the pee hole. So I pulled my thermostats and they were horrible contacted the marine shop and he told me it wouldnt hurt that motor to run with out thermostats and once I fired it up it was peeing like a champ. Just a thaught.

Re: Water pump

Maybe the Mason bees have clogged up the intake holes???

Good Luck,

Re: Water pump

Thanks for your input!
I left it alone for a couple days.
I think it's where the tube goes into the power head.
It does flush backwards, just not forward.
I did dig out the mason bees as far up as the head!

Re: Water pump

Pull the water tube from the waterpump and insert it up into the powerhead. It should stick in place.

Attach a garden hose (duct tape or whatever) to the water tube and turn on the tap. Water should flow from the telltale and the port (plug removed ;)) on the head.

If not, then your old impeller has broken up and plugged the cooling system somewhere. If that is the case, then you may need to pull the powerhead to find the offending bit :(

OK update,
Got a picture taken of the area that the copper pipe goes into.
It will not stay in BTW.
I can not figure how to post the picture, but the part that holds the
O ring seems solid.
Very, did I say very, hard to get in there. It looks like, it is part
of the power head:eek:.
It may need to stay apart until spring.

Re: Water pump

OK! It warmed up enough to get back to it.
I put the tube with water hose attached to it.
Water coming out pee hole and the brass plug (removed).
Reassembled and no she workie.
I can feel the pump trying to work, but no water.
It has to be the pump it'self.

Re: Water pump

Got it! Gave up and took it in to a mechanic.
Turns out the intake was full of debris. As simple as that.
I thought I had checked that, but I missed it.
Thanks for the help!:D
