Are there no other numbers where prop nut goes?
You can measure diameter from the center of the bore to the tip of a blade and multiply by 2.The important number is the pitch and I don't think it is contained the that number unless its 21 which it might if for a light boat.

i know the pitch is 19 does the diameter really matter im thinking it might be a 13 or 14 diameter but would it matter if i bought a 13 1/4 diameter prop?

Right the diameter doesn't matter except for certain specific applications.
If the prop is for a 74 85hp and you by a 19" prop for it the diameter will follow.
I would say 13 1/4 is near the max.
This is the ideal time to upgrade your prop.If you give us the info suggested at the stickies at the top of the page we can tell better what you might need.
You should try to stick with the same brand, material and style too maxmize
more predictable results. If not possible and your happy with present prop
stick with material and pitch.

Re: mercury prop.. wants to know diameters..

the reason why i was asking was because my lower unit cracked and i bought a 115 hp merc. lower unit, some guy on here told me to drop my pitch 2" because my ratio dropped from 2.3-1 to 2-1 . i had a pitch of 19 on my 85 hp merc. so what prop would be good for my lower unit? im thinking the prop was a 13x19 or a 14x19
