Ok I did it. I bought a Force. Yeah I know.......
Heres what its doin. I cleaned the fuel system, tank to float bowl. New fuel line and bulb. This was before I ever tried to start it. New plugs too.
It fired right up and idled so smooth. Too smooth. I went to the back and pulled the top plug wire off to see if it was firing right and it didnt make a difference. Shut it off and checked the plug and sure enough it had fuel on it. Got a plug I use just for checkin fire and it wasnt firin at all. Even stuck a screwdriver in there and touched it. NOTHIN.
SO.......I swap the coils out from top to bottom but I didnt hook the suspected bad coil up. Wouldnt start. Turned over fine but still no fire. Decided to try hookin up the suspected bad coil and try that. Hooked it up to the bottom coil terminals and lo and behold it fired right up. BUT.....Still no spark from the suspected bad coil.
Now this told me the suspected bad coil is BAD, right? The coil from the bottom cylinder is firin fine where the suspected bad coil came from and now the suspected bad coil is on the bottom cylinder and its still not firin. This tell me everything under the flywheel is ok and that suspected bad coil is bad.
OR DOES IT???? Now the dang thing wont shut off by the key switch. I have to pull the emergency kill switch to shut it down. What gives?
Have been lurkin here for sometime and search doesnt work for me. Too impatient. Hope I explained whats goin on and didnt make it too confusin.
Thanx for whatever I get except for the scolding for buyin a Force engine.

OH, almost forgot. The suspected bad coil smells like it has been on fire. Stinks really bad. This a sign of a bad coil?

Re: 507x8b Force Firing Problem.

Even though I got zero answers I thought I'd add an update:
Put the coils back in their original positions and hooked 'em up. Engine fired right up and would shut down by the switch. Let it run for 45 mins to an hour and every once in awhile the suspected bad coil would fire. I got it to open up with both coils firin but when it idled down the "bad" coil would stop firin again. Let it set for a hour or so and went back to start it and it wont fire from the good coil now. What gives? Help, someone.........!

Re: 507x8b Force Firing Problem.

Double check all the wiring to the coils, and the back of the ignition switch.

The same wire that grounds out the ignition via the kill switch, is used to ground out the ignition via the keyed switch. I suspect a loose wire on the keyed switch.

Yes, burned coil is breaking down, bad coil.

Why no spark from the supposed good coil?
Not wired correctly, or it went bad too.

Re: 507x8b Force Firing Problem.

Am suspectin a bad key switch at this point. It was startin just fine but got to where I had to push in on the key to get it to fire off.....?... Otherwise it would just spin and spin, but not fire off. Wasnt havin to push the key to choke it to start as the choke doesnt work yet. Been givin it a squirt from a spray bottle til I get everything goin.
Now my question is...........Which wire is the kill wire on the engine. Isnt marked anywhere that I've seen. Thanx for the reply.

Do you have a manual, if you do, I will be able to talk you through a trouble shooting procedure.

Re: 507x8b Force Firing Problem.

Heres what I have today......
Took the flywheel off. Pulled the stator and trigger. Stator reads across the 2 greens wires. Just guessing here but they are charging side.......? I think this because it was charging when it did run.
Across the 2 blues I have nothing. No reading at all. Didnt check em for any voltage before I pulled em off. Im guessin they are the fire side....? Also where these 2 wires go into the winding there are small holes where it looks like it may have gotten hot. One looks a little burnt.
As for the trigger......
Across the red 1 and white wire, I got a reading. Across the red 2 and green wire I got a reading. Across the green and red 1 I got nothing. Across the red 2 and white I got nothing.

SO....Thinkin the stator quit firing.........?. Also still think I have a bad coil but I'm gonna try to get it back runnin before I go any farther.
Replace stator????????

And I dont have a manual. Know I need one but.......
