What do you use to repair water leaks on the Aluminum Hull of Starcraft boats? I will probably use product that I am familiar with being in aviation... Pro Seal B1

So Gluvit is a sloshing epoxy that seeps into holes and cracks where water leaks? I take it you pour this stuff on the inside of the boat?

Re: Leak repairs

Initial consistency is like paint and yes it creeps and flows into cracks and seams. It is best applied with a small 1" brush and only brushed on the seams.... many of is tilt the hull so it flows into seams and do one side on one day and one side the next.

It creates an awesome barrier coat on aluminum but if it is going to be exposed to direct sunlight it should be painted since it lacks uv inhibitors

Re: Leak repairs

I know Gluvit is intended for aluminum hulls and to be poured inside but I used it on the bottom of my old 16' fiberglass boat. I brushed it over the hull below the waterline and sanded it when it was done. It worked really well. Here's a picture.

Re: Leak repairs

I could see it working as a sealant. I looked over my boat and I don't know how many loose rivets it would take to get 50 gallons of water to leak in the boat overnight? I coulted many loose rivets that I can replace using Cherry Max pull rivets and sealant. I looked closely at the rubber seal on the transome and it looked good to me. The aluminum seams look to be in food shape too. I'm hoping not to have to pull the floor. I take it the bow is the usuall problem area for holes and such? I won't leave it on the lake for a long while to come if ever and I will make sure to have an operational bilge pump with float, and dual batteries.
