impeller or whole pump kit?

when i bought her this summer i replaced the whole pump with a mercruiser kit. housing, backing plate, oil seal etc.... ive determined that the correct interval for replacement is every other year. but do i want to replace just the rubber impeller from here on in? or the whole shebang?

If its just regular maintenance and all looks good with the housing, I would go with just the impeller.
Where do you go boating? north shore or south shore?

You can replace the upper parts ONLY IF THE LOWER BASE SHOWS NO DAMAGE FROM OVERHEATING. I replace just the uppers for 2 years , then include a new base on the 3rd year because of the oil seals.

the OP has a gen 2 which does not incorporate the drivshaft seal with the water pump base assy like older alphas/R/MR/I dives

however i would recommend replacing the wear plate and gaskets along with the impeller in the future, sold as a kit without the pump housing from merc

be sure to pressure test your drive too when performing preventative maintenance

I agree, buy the impeller repair kit since you will need the gaskets anyway. Sierra # 18-3214, Mallory #9-48313 'nutcase

I trailer it out of Bay Shore marina.
Just got back from the x-mas boat parade in Patchouge.
I'm done for the year-hope to see you and your new impeller next season---Chris

Just the rubber impeller, untill your housing/ flywheel goes bad.

Ahh..How does the flywheel effect the impeller?

A Gen II housing should last indefinitely unless the impeller gets run dry or some other physical damage like sand ingestion.
