Hello, my name is Bob and Im a "water-holic." Kayaks, canoes, sail, jet etc. I'm looking at a 1994 Bayliner Capri 1950 W/ Mercruiser 3.0L engine. It looks for the most part well taken care of. I noticed lube grease smeared here and there. Seller has no explanation. He's asking 5,500. or he wants to trade for my 07 motorcycle (kbb.com=6500 trade in). Will someone give me an idea as to its' value? Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Bob and welcome to Iboats.

WORTH is up to the end buyer.
For 5500 the boat better be impeccable, with everything in working order. No leaks in the engine or drive, and no runability issues on the water under load, not on the muffs. And with a trailer.

You didn't say the length but I have a customer of mine that picked up an 07 bayliner 19ft bow rider with a merc 3.0 and a trailer for 10K last year.

Without seeing it i'd still say this guy is priced to high. Bayliners are cheap, entry level boats. Not made the best. I'd look around for a nicer hull, and you should be able to find one in the 5-6k range.

Remember... everybody thinks there junk is gold.

Price sounds WAY high to me. A 3.0 in a 19' is going to be a bit of a dog. In a boat that age, your primary concern is going to be rot in the wooden components of the boat. You want a solid transom and deck. ANY soft spots are usually indicative of more serious problems below. Check it carefully. Even in immaculate condition that's a $3500 boat. However prices do vary wildly depending on your location.

Way too much for a 15 yr old underpowered boat.

With the chorus, I paid $3100 for my 20' 3.4L '92 Sea Ray last year. Keep looking, besides, people are EASY to work on price these days.:D

If you are looking at boats in that price range/age, don't be looking at Bayliners.

Don't go cheaper. If your budget is in that range, look for better boats in that range.
