Re: I'd like to be a new boater... many questions to ask.
I'm certain that I'd never push it. In fact, I'd be looking into getting a limiter of some kind. Something that limits how far I can push the throttle. I know there's stuff like that out there. If not for boats, I'm sure I can figure out a way to make one work.
I'm pretty sure I'm overpowered. Jumping from a 125 to a 200 has got to be something that wasn't within the boat manufacturer's design. I will definitely check on that as soon as I get home next week. I'm still open to all options and will explore them. Maybe a new engine's in order or a bigger boat. Does not matter. I'd like to try and keep what I have and take it from there... Like I said... I love projects. I mean... right now I'm out of town and there's just nothing for me to do here... I have a half a mind to start taking this computer apart and just tinker around with it. I've got the tinkerin' itch. I like to stay busy.
Lol.
Thank you, iboat posters. My knowledge is growing so fast thanks to informed people on this forum. I've been reading other threads and whatnot. This looks like a solid board. Maybe I'll start a restoration thread and document my progress. Those are always fun to read! For me at least!
Keep the great advice coming!
Just a thought here.
Check the capacity plate as others have suggested. IF you are over powered, its not illegal per sa, but god forbid you get in an accident, or someone gets hurt its a perfect excuse for the insurance company to claim you were negilant and walk away, regardless if you were reckless or not. Just something to keep in the back of your mind.
