81 evinrude 50hp fuel/choke issue

I am helping a friend with his boat. the engine will not run for more than about 2 sec. fuel filters have been changed. engine is very clean. here are the two issue i have seen. first the fuel bulb has leak on either side and it needs replaced. must have been defective this thing is brand new. also on the electric choke solenoid. the engine will kinda run ok when switch is in manual position but dies in run position. when running in manual positions engine can be tuned a bit with throttle any ideas.

Carbs need to be done with rebuild kits, about $22 ea.
Order them right here on iBoats.

the choke bypasses the carbs and shoots fuel directly into intake mani.
Look on Youtube for marine doctor carb rebuild videos, very simple if its your first time with carbs. I did all 6 of my carbs in less than 2 hrs first time.

junk the bulb, thats an air leak and will make it run lean/hot ,
if it runs that is.

The factory service manual is very handy. $48, save a fortune on mechanics.

that motor has a choke butterfly in the carb, does not have the primer system.

i agree with carb cleaning and rebuild kits. also change all fuel lines to alcohol resistant line carb to tank.

thanks for the help guys. i have a new bulb my suspicion is that the fuel system may be getting air and causing the fuel to drop off. I i am correct the fuel pump on this engine is vacuum drive so i was concerns the vacuum may be interrupted by the bad bulb. also i know the system does have the butterfly choke but htere is a electric primer choke system that is the red lever i was referring to.
