small craft advisory question

I'm not a new boater in the freshwater lake sense, but a total newbie when it comes to boating in saltwater sound, bay, creek, etc scene. I'm heading to Fripp Island , SC for turkey day weekend and bringing my 14ft tracker grizzly with 9.9hp motor down with me. I know for a lake windavisory it'll be useless and sometimes dangerous to fish on open parts of a lake. The thing that gets me is that NOAA has issued a small craft advisory for the area from thursday night to friday morning. Does that imply creeks and bay or just open ocean waters or both?

Re: small craft advisory question

My experience is that Small Craft Advisory by NOAA is for the open water. But.... like anything else you have to be smart and pay attention to the weather yourself. I have seen bays and lakes get pretty nasty in high winds.

Good Luck.

You can also check with the local weather stations before you go out.
