our 1994 dually f350 4x4 flat deck which we use for work and towing the boat just got a recall notice for the speed control deactivation switch on the brake system.
this is the first time I have ever recieved one in the mail.
This gets me to thinking, how many recalls have been done on my truck and I have had no notice?
were does one find out?

Ayuh,.... Are you the Original owner,..?? I have a 96, F-250, PowerStroke, bought Used...

I've never gotten the recall notices, til this 1 you're talking about,...
I think there's been a change recently, where now they send notices to state by state Registered owners, rather than just the people they Sold 'em too...

Btw,... That switch was Beat the day I bought the truck, had to drive from Montgomery Al. to Home with the foot throttle,...
Bummer...
Got home, went on-line,+ found the Problem in 20 minutes,.. About $10. later, Cruise worked...
Also found out, a paperclip would have gotten me home With cruise...

I found all this info at the Dieselstop forums,... I'm not a proflic poster over there, but am a member...
You'll No doubt find anything there is to find out about factory recalls,+ alot about your truck in general over there,...
Especially if it's a Diesel...

I wouldn't be so sure. A little while back, I searched and found one for my f350, so I brought it into the dealer to get taken care of. They found 2 other ones on it, so I ended up with 3 getting taken care of.

I think they don't report the minor ones, or there's some criteria as to what they report and what they just fix when you come in.

Rbh and Bond-o this is one recall you better follow through on.

AND UNPLUG THE CRUISE SWITCH ON THE BRAKE M.CYL. IMMEDIATELY.

This is a major fire hazard. The switch has 12v going to it at all time's (key off).
Over time brake fluid eats away at switch which can cause a short to ground which = FIRE.

Car's/truck's have started on fire in attached garage's burning houses down in the middle of the night.
I believe this is the largest recall in Ford's history.

My f150 burned up in my driveway,it was about two weeks before they did the recall on the cruise control,it almost burned my boat up. I now drive a Dodge.

Re: f350 recall notice

Around 7 thousand items in a modern car have constant power feeds and any one of those feeds could be a "fire hazard" I kind of think the recall is a joke and cant believe Ford themselves keeps publicizing it along with the media. I almost think its a ploy on Fords part just to get people into their showrooms, helluva idea if so.

Anyway I have heard they tell you the part is on back order and take your name and never call you, I gotta be honest the guy above me is the first person I have heard of with one of these trucks (around 17 million affected vehicles) I have not seen the wreckers or the side of the roads littered with burned Fords and I'm in truck country so I just do not understand this recall I means I have been hearing about if for around 5 years ?
I guess maybe the gubmint is forcing Ford to do this ? Seems ridiculous.

Preciate the tip on the that switch causing cruise not to work, hopefully that is the problem with my 95, I'll try bypassing it as a troubleshooting measure.

Not every "power feed" has the ability to short to ground. This is not a joke and it's not just trucks. www.switchfires.com

Re: f350 recall notice

I agree most hot wires are fused. Regardless there are some pretty hefty unfused hot wires under the hood of many cars and most never have a problem.
That list is extensive and kind of "in my mind" goes to show that the recall is BS I troll a junkyard once or twice a year and I dont think I've seen a single burnt down Ford laying anywhere. Also in my daily travels I am glad to report I see very few car fires.
As an all car fan and car lover car fires are probably one of saddest ways to watch a car die.

A Crown Vic burned on the next block about 5 years ago but it was the womans ex boyfriend who tossed a molotov cocktail into the auto.
Also thats is weird how this little 14 gauge cruise wire ended up unfused,I would have thought it involved in cruise control fuse show whats I know.

Maybe I'm all wet, probably am I mean BIGTIME Ford and some gubmint agency are doing this recall for a reason. I guess the good news or maybe bad for Ford is that probably atleast 50% of those cars are dead and gone.

I have seen a few Fords that have burned, most will go directly to the crusher, so they are not laying around in the yards...not much left of them after they burn

Damn Fords, that would be horrible to have a dumb car burn and have it take a building with it. Ai yi yi.
