We're contimplating a move to the Colorado Springs area. I'm not really that familiar with that area yet. Can anyone recommend any good places to boat there?

11 mile reservoir. Been a LONG time since my grandparents took me there, but always had a good time.

Also, Blue Mesa over in Gunnison is a good 3 day weekend trip.

Pueblo Reservoir isn't too bad for a day trip.

Here's a list of the boatable waters in Colorado. I'm on the south edge of the Denver metro area, and have only been on Chatfield. It's not too bad of a lake, pretty small, we mostly just drop anchor in the no-wake zone. What kind of boating are you looking to do?

Pueblo is one of the lakes where they've found Zebra mussels, so if you put in there, you'll have to have your boat quarantined for 7 days (I think) before most of the other lakes will let you in. They have started doing zebra mussel inspections at most of the bigger lakes before they'll let you put in.

Boatable Waters here.

Boat Inspection info here.

If you're out during the weekend sometime and want to see Chatfield, shoot me a PM. I'll most likely be out there just about every boatable weekend.

there is NO quarrantine for the Zebra Muscles!!! They inspect before you come out of a zebra muscle positive lake and recommend that you wait a few days before you put into a different lake so that it has time to dry out. They will inspect you before you put in on a lake without zebra muscles state wide right now and then again before you come out. If you plan on being there for a few days they will put a lock on your trailer so that you don't have to be inspected over and over during the period that you are there. Media and misinformed people make it out to be worse than it really is. Read the precautions that the Colorado Fish and Game have posted to be a responsible boat owner !

Pueblo Res is the single most popular waterway for watersports in the state. It's an hour drive from Colorado Springs. 11 mile Reservoir is a great Fishing lake but no swimming is allowed and is about an hour and a half trip from Colorado Springs at 10000 feet of elevation.

My family lives in Colorado Springs and we take a 2 week vacation every summer to Lake McConaughy in Ogalalla, NE. Lake McConaughy is our favorite spot outside of Colorado!
