Hi Guys,

I have a 1989 Force 50hp outboard motor that currently does not have a techometer. I am not sure I can even put one on, but I would like to try. Does anyone know if this is possible on this motor? If so, which number of poles would I use? I searched long and hard and have seen 2 different results. Some say 12 pole and others say 20 poles.. anyone know for sure?

The wire harness I have coming off my motor is as follows:

blue / white line
grey / brown line
green / white line
brown
black / yellow line
yellow / black line
yellow / red line

Any help is appreciated.

12 poles is correct for that motor. I think the tach lead is brown but someone needs to verify that.
