I apologize if this is in the wrong place. I've searched, but can't find my answer. I have a 1987 SeaRay with a 5.7 Mercuiser, Alpha I. How do I know if it's generation I or II? Thanks guys.
I have a boat with the Alpha I, and a boat with the Alpha II...the first difference that came to mind was that the Gen II has the water tube for the speedometer attached to the front of the lower unit.
I'm sure that you will get many more (and better) answers in a few minutes!
The best way to tell is to look up the serial number... a merc repair shop can do that, or you can look online. If you post it here probably someone here can do it, too.
Thanks again for the replies. My problem is that the boat is locked up in storage. I can't get to it until the weekend and need to order parts. I think ErieRon is right. It's a Generation I.
