Hi all , I hope someone can help. When I lift the engine out of the water after using it for awhile, water comes out the lower unit area which I believe is common, but as it hits the water it becomes clear that it has either gas or oil or a combination of both mixing with the water. After the last of the water stops, it goes away. I had the lower unit seals replaced, the waterpump changes as well as the impeller. Also had a compression check on the engine that was ok. This just strted and I am at my wits end. It is a 93 merc outboard. THANKS A MILLION

Re: leaking fuel into water

The exhaust port in the leg or the hub is where the water is coming from. On a two stroke the oil that isnt burned ends up in this part of the engine and is expelled out the exhaust, and thus ends up in the water. Thats why Cali now has so many 4 stroke only lakes and reservoir. Scared a little oil will hurt the fishies! To answer your question...It is normal. Water in the lower unit is not, so watch for that, other wise youre fine.
