I have recently purchased a 1982 Cajun fishing boat. this boat came with a 12-24 volt trolling motor. the problem that i am having is the boat in its past was hard wired to only run 12 volts. all of the original wires are still run to the front of the boat but they bypass the selector switch and the battery indicator lights. what is the correct way to reconnect these components so that i can select between 12 and 24 volts. if it helps there are four wires leaving the battery area going to the front of the boat.

Re: 1982 Cajun trolling motor wiring

Without some pictures of the items that have been bypassed and without the color of the wires from the batteries, I can't help --- but I'd like to. I can tell you that the four wires from the batteries are paired, one pair to each battery. The colors are probably Red/Black and Orange/Black. That's all I can do for you unless you submit some pictures of the panel (the front and back of it) and any other stuff that's been bypassed.
