Formula Volvo Engine

I have a 1990 Formula F206 LS 21ft. Manual came in Dutch, I need to know the horse power of the volvo penta AQ271C engine, and the cubic inches, this boat is up for sale, and I don't have the info. Motor is orginal with mercurser outdrive. Pleeeese help! Newbie on i/o.

Ayuh,.... If it' a Merc. motor,... What does AQ271C have to do with it,..??

Merc.,+ Volvo have both used Chevy motors, but your post is rather confusing...

Maybe it means original engine with non-original outdrive?

With that said (asked) Volvo is particularly good at sharing details of older engines. Type in AQ271C under "Engine Type" and you will get a lot of info including an Owners Manual download. It is a 275 hp (I assume at the flywheel) 5.7 liter (350 CID) GM engine.

Interesting note in the Operations Manual: "Recommended cruising speed - - - - - 300-500 RPM lower than the obtained max. speed"

This seems a lot higher than what we often consider as cruise RPM. I am going to continue to claim that cruise RPM is a somewhat arbitrary concept although this note is semi specific. If you obtained a 4600 WOT RPM this would suggest 4100 - 4300 cruise. I have been knocked around a little for cruising often at 4000 RPM and my package is rated for 4800 - 5200 . . . Sorry for the hijack . . . :redface:

AQ271 is a VOLVO model number. If it's all original, then you don't have a Mercruiser outdrive. Maybe you could post a picture of what your engine and drive look like. If it's Volvo, here is what it SHOULD look like.
